The opportunity

To take all necessary actions to help improve student retention, increase graduation rate, achieve higher GPAs for at-risk students, and have higher overall student satisfaction at Zayed University.

To guide students on issues related to their academic progress towards completion of their studies and to guide students about the institutional and societal resources of Zayed University.

To guide students in matters of their chosen academic path and assist them with all forms of academic advice to contribute to the overall growth of retention rates.

Responsibilities the students:

Be the single point of contact for students to support their retention, graduation rate, academic success and overall satisfaction at the university.

Assess the student's stage of development (academic, functional, personal) and promote the student's growth by setting appropriate developmental tasks; Actively support the student in setting realistic and achievable academic and career goals.

Provide guidance in the student's selection of courses, i.e. to ensure that degree requirements are met, that the courses selected represent a reasonable balance of work in different areas, and that curricular choices are not precluded prematurely.


Actively support students in their academic planning at the micro level (course selection, course scheduling, etc.) and refer them to other faculty and departments and appropriate campus resources to assist them in their academic planning at the macro level (internships, career planning, research opportunities, etc.) so that they can develop a coherent academic plan.

Proactively advise, refer, and monitor students (eg, to Learning Commons) who are at risk of leaving university for academic reasons.

Identify the main resources and services according to the student's need or desire. Track students' progress with the support offered/recommended.

Customize study plans according to students' needs to ensure that degree requirements are completed on time.

Maintain student files and records; Documents all relevant student information; Updates the system regarding changes in the student's status.

Communicate and explain the college and university policies and procedures. Proactively direct students in line with university policies.

Participates in preparing orientations and provides academic information to new students and parents during orientation. Check various forms for accuracy such as grading tests, overload requests, and curriculum changes; It helps students complete them.

Work closely with the registry office to advise new students.

Support student success by helping them make informed decisions about their educational goals.

Provide students with information about alternatives, limitations, and potential consequences of academic decisions (eg addition, deletion and withdrawal from courses, program change, and/or major).

Oversee sensitive situations and resolve complaints at an early stage to reduce conflict and prevent escalation.

Support the recruitment of new students and the repatriation of Zayed University students who have left.


Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and at least 4 years of directly relevant experience advising students on academic issues or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Other basic requirements:

Personal counseling skills

Knowledge of academia including; Course requirements, faculty personalities, academic grade standards, etc.

Commitment to continuous professional growth

Proficiency in the use of computer applications. Excellent IT skills in

 PowerPoint ,MS Word and Excel .

2/Learning Resources Librarian - Learning Resources Library - Abu Dhabi.

The opportunity

The Library and Learning Commons Department at Zayed University is looking for an experienced, innovative and collaborative learning resource librarian to join the team. The Learning Resources Librarian provides leadership in the continuing development and operations of the Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) with a focus on the teaching program and other learning resources that advance language skills, literacy, technology, and learning for students in an ever-changing higher education. learning environment

The Learning Resource Librarian advises and leads the development of resources to facilitate and enhance e-learning and blended learning. The Learning Resources Librarian, as a professional academic librarian, is involved in all aspects of library services that support the University's teaching and learning activities, such as information literacy instruction, collection development, communication assignments, and reference services. Zayed University is in the process of transformation, so tasks and duties may evolve as needed.

Critical success factors:

Strong organizational and leadership skills to supervise, direct and work with library staff and faculty to build a successful team

Demonstrate ability to initiate, develop, prioritize and manage projects and/or services

Must be able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators and stakeholders in the university's external community .

Experience and broader vision of best practices in developing learning resources, particularly in an e-learning and blended learning environment, and providing user-centered services in all aspects.

Responsibilities

Learning Resources:

Provides leadership and coordination in development, management and evaluation,

Outreach and awareness of learning resources in the Curriculum Resource Center and Learning Commons, as well as learning resources that support e-learning and blended learning. This includes but is not limited to:

Keeping abreast of trends and developments in educational technology applications and tools that support and enhance learning

It uses various programs and software (eg Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Adobe, etc.) to develop high-quality, interactive learning objects for online and blended learning.

Develops programs that benefit STEAM disciplines to expand library learning.

Oversees development of library/STEAM maker spaces, STEAM-related programming and outreach online and on campus.

Promotes Learning Commons programs and activities on campus and the greater community.

Participates in collaborative initiative and program planning with colleagues across libraries, campuses, and the community.

Brainstorm, explore, plan, implement and support interactive learning programming online and on campus.

Consciously cultivate a welcoming and accessible environment for students and other users with a variety of needs and abilities; Ensures appropriate signage, policies, equipment, communication mechanisms and feedback to facilitate accommodations on an individual basis.

Curriculum Resource Center:

Coordinates resources and personnel at CRC, oversees day-to-day tasks and supervises CRC technicians on both campuses.

Manages the resource and material budget for the CRC, including the creation of the annual proposed budget.

Coordinates the development and management of a print, electronic and multimedia suite of curricula, teaching methods and teaching materials for the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In collaboration with the Dubai Campus Educational Communication Librarian, selects and develops a range of educational materials that meet the needs of students, faculty, and strategic learning for Zayed University.

Creates and develops guidelines around the production of materials used to support curriculum development and learning for future educators, and ensures quality control.

Promotes awareness of CRC materials and services across the university community and the broader educational community in the UAE.

Faculty members are regularly informed about the availability and use of resources in the CRC/library, particularly those related to curriculum and teaching methods.

Other duties and responsibilities:

Acts as a liaison librarian for academic programs dedicated to providing educational information and services, managing collections, subject guides, and engaging with faculty, staff, and students to enhance library resources and services.

Contributes to course reviews regarding availability of course-related resources.

Provides reference service to faculty, students, and staff and works at Library .

Fence desk and swivels to cover long hours

Trains and works closely with reference technicians in performing reference duties.

Collaborates with faculty in their research and participates in facilitating faculty workshops on library resources available to support teaching and research.

Promotes and contributes to an environment of collegiality, respect, trust and teamwork to contribute positively to the University's goals. 

As an academic faculty position, active participation and participation in scholarship, teaching and service is required.

Serves on library teams, councils, and related university committees.

Actively participates and demonstrates commitment to professional responsibilities that serve the library, university, profession, and community.

Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
